Jardine Parrot

Jardine ParrotJardine Parrot

I have to admit that my experience with the Jardine Parrot is limited because I have not had a pair of them. I had the opportunity to feed and raise a clutch of three babies for a friend of mine. As youngsters, I found them to have similar traits to that of African Grey babies. As they weaned, they were affectionate and very responsive.

There are 3 subspecies of the Jardine Parrots, and they differ primarily in size. The largest of them, the Greater Jardine Parrot, is about the size as of a Timneh Grey. I found them to be very intelligent, and to have a talking ability similar to an African Grey. Since they are an African species, they are not noisy, and would be suitable for apartment living.
